Garmin has released its newest navigation system – the Heads-Up Display (HUD). This easy-to-use system makes navigation that much easier, and with traffic being what it is today, keeping your eyes on the road – without being distracted by some map app, will make your drive that much more safer and enjoyable.
The dashboard-mounted portable HUD provides advanced navigation through projection. As Garmin states: “Projects navigation information on to your windshield, provides estimated time of arrive and lane assist, offers speed, traffic and safety camera alerts. It works wirelessly with compatible Bluetooth-enable smartphones, and is for use with Garmin StreetPilot for iPhone or NAVIGON mobile apps.”
In our opinion, what makes the HUD so impressive is that while it receives navigation information from your smartphone, it projects it on to your windshield and automatically adjusts its brightness level – meaning that it’s visible at night or in direct sunlight.
The HUD costs around R1 300 while the app it needs in order to work in conjunction with your smartphone will cost around R300.
It’ll be compatible with iOS, Windows Phone 8 devices and Android, so there really is no excuse not to keep your eyes on the road anymore.
